The «environmental side effects» of the well-being drugs: When antidepressants and anxiolytics disrupt animal behavior

In the framework of the BeingHavior Project, we have received in june/2024 the researchers from the University of Tunis El Manar, Dr. Safa Bejaoui and Pr. Nejla Soudani, who will study some behavioral and biochemical changes in zebrafish (Danio rerio) caused by the exposure to the antidepressant fluoxetine.
Regarding the behavioral approach, the study will focus on two endpoints related to spatial displacement, such as avoidance and colonisation behaviors, and on alterations in the swimming patterns and predatory behavior.

For biochemical analysis, redox status and lipidomic changes will be analyzed in zebrafish under exposure to graded concentrations of fluoxetine
